“Life Imitates Art Far More Than Art Imitates Life . . . “
We’ve all heard this famous quote before, and there is lively conversation regarding Oscar Wilde’s famous statement, but have you ever thought about how this point applies to your own life? About how the art and accessories you choose to place in your home or office can affect what is happening in your life?
Take a look around your home and office. What does your choices of artwork say about you? Do you have pieces that you love and that inspire you or do you have pieces that no longer reflect who you are or who you want to be now?
Look closely at the imagery represented. Sometimes, you can get so used to looking at the things in your home that you no longer actually see what they are. If you have been dealing with a certain issue in your life, it can oftentimes be reflected very plainly back at you in what you have chosen to “decorate” your home or office with.
Evaluate the pieces you have displayed in your home and decide if they fit who you are right now and the life you have chosen to lead. You may have some pieces that no longer fit and that are ready to leave your environment. If you aren’t sure if you are ready to part with them, but are concerned with the message they are sending to you, remove them for three months and keep track of any changes that take place during that time. You can then decide if you really want them back or not.
Whether life imitates art or art imitates life, be sure that the art you choose to have in your environment is art that reflects the kind of life you want to enjoy. That it represents the values you cherish, and resonates with the joy you are choosing for your life today.
