Inspired Feng Shui Life

In Feng Shui, the bedroom represents relationships, so when you are designing your bedroom decor, think about balance and think about using pairs of equally matched pieces.  After all, we all want balanced relationships in our lives, right?  Having balance and harmony in our relationships with others allows us to give and feel support and allows our relationships to grow and flourish.

I spoke about the importance of having your bed in the “armchair position”, that is, with the head of the bed on a solid wall, out of the line of the door, but with a clear view of the door.  Now let’s support and balance the bed by placing your nightstands one on each side of the bed.  It is preferable to have them either matching or approximately the same size so that each side of the bed is equally supported. 

Matching lamps will further reflect the quality of nurturing balanced relationships while adding the energy of light to the space.  Remember, in a bedroom, you don’t want to use harsh lighting.  Keep the lighting soft as the bedroom is a space for relaxation and rejuvenation.

When choosing the accessories for your bedroom, choose items that give you feelings of healthy, loving relationships.  Avoid clutter and anything that does not belong in a bedroom.  And remember when we talked about artwork reflecting what is happening in your life?  Choose art that speaks to you of loving romance.

Since the bedroom is your intimate space, keep this space all yours.  Whenever possible, keep work out of the bedroom, save the kids photos for another area of the home, and if you can do without it, don’t place a TV in your bedroom. 

Keep your bedroom your special, an intimate, relaxing retreat.  Choose items that support the type of relationship you are looking for.  Think in pairs and choose items that reflect balance and harmony.  Make your bedroom a supportive part of your Inspired Feng Shui Life.
